Scope
Ausco were looking to upgrade the design of their mobile camps. For a number of years, Ausco have been constructing their staff quarters with a steel covered walkway in-between the buildings.
Ausco wanted to upgrade the look of their camps to give an edge over competitors, and they felt the Allshelter fabric roof made the camps look more upmarket.
How we went about it
Because the fabric walkway idea was a new one, Allshelter designed & manufactured a special wind-rated and engineered prototype. Testing was done in-house at Allshelter manufacturing facility in Lake Cargelligo, NSW to be able to provide accurate costings and photos for the Ausco to present to their directors. This meant that Allshelter were also able to provide accurate recommendation of men, machinery and hours required to install.
Solution
Once, Ausco were happy with the prototype. To suit Ausco’s exact requirements, Allshelter designed, engineered, manufactured and installed 14 Walkway Shelters 2.4m wide x varying lengths to cover a 300 man camp.
Customised design ensured that Ausco were able install the shelters using a small install team, 3 men. And, able to install without access to the roofs on the portable buildings.
The Shelters were also relocatable & re-usable, wind-rated, and engineered.
Outcome
Ausco liked the fact that the dome shelter was more cost effective than a steel shelter and that the fabric on the shelter has ultra violet ray protection allowing natural light to enter – even on overcast days. After speaking with some of their customers the feedback they said that they like the fabric roof over the camps because it gave a ‘brighter, more open feel’
The residents of Ausco camps now have a cooler covered recreational area and Ausco saves with lower energy costs to keep the camps cool during the summer months.
